Insight on The Future of Fashion

There are two big critiques of any art form: "It's not new enough" and "it's too new." There may be no form that endures this dicotomy more than fashion, a form that is both expected to innovate in design while also maintaing functionality. Imagine, then, the task entrusted to a young designer, to both reference the past, anticipate the future, and maintain form all at the same time.

This year’s FIT Future of Fashion showcase was at many points a jaw dropping and electric experience that addressed this task. The clothes and the ambition and experimentation behind them suggest a fearless future in fashion. The spectrum of what is possible and allowed in clothing making was picked apart and put back together in the form of beautiful garments by the crop of graduates. While not all garments attempted to reinvent the wheel, the energy and passion from each of the designers was evident and inspiring. The future of fashion looks bright.

MM6 Maison Margiela x Salomon Unveil a Bold New Chapter

MM6 Maison Margiela and Salomon continue to push boundaries with the latest evolution of their creative partnership — a collaboration rooted in shared innovation and a mutual aptitude for redefining functional fashion.

With a foundation in activewear, the collection reimagines the running wardrobe through a fashion lens. Every piece is built to layer and remix, adapting effortlessly to the fast pace of urban life.

Launching as part of the Spring/Summer 2025 AVP collection, this genderless capsule is a seamless fusion of Salomon’s technical prowess and MM6’s avant-garde sensibility. Dropping in two waves — April 17th and May 8th — the collection blends lightweight performance fabrics with unconventional silhouettes and signature design elements from both houses.

Highlights from the collection include a reworked MA-1 bomber crafted from translucent windproof ripstop and a pair of exaggerated wide shorts, finished with laser-cut edges. Core wardrobe pieces such as tanks, tees, and fitted shorts are elevated with graphic elements that nod to MM6’s irreverent spirit; oversized logos, safety-pin inspired tags, and playful xerox-style sneaker prints. Footwear takes center stage with the return of the XT-4 Mule sneakers in two seasonal colorways and the introduction of Salomon’s Spectur 2 road shoe.
