NOTHING SPECIAL

Nothing Special was born out of urgency. NOTHING SPECIAL I felt the heat of the moment, creatively and emotionally. We wanted to make something immediate. Something raw. Something that captured the volatility of being young and in love in a city that never slows down. We were interested in the fleeting nature of connection. How a night can feel infinite. How a moment can feel like destiny. And how quickly it can all disapear. Sometimes we are so caught in our pride or anger that we do not see what we are losing until it is already gone. At its core, this film is about fire. Nothing Special is about memory. It is about loss. It is about the echo of someone who is no longer there. It is about the unbearable weight of what could have been. The fire you feel when you fall in love. The electricity, the recklessness, the sense that nothing else exists. And then the other side of that same flame. The jealousy. The ego. The rage. The guilt. The irreversible words spoken in the wrong moment. Ghibli Media Artists Love can illuminate you. Love can consume you. We wanted to concentrate all of that into one short piece. A film that feels saturated, seductive, and alive on the surface, yet unbearable underneath. Beautiful to look at. Horrible to be inside. Releasing it around Valentine’s Day felt instinctive. Not because it celebrates romance, but because it confronts it. It offers a different angle. Love not as fantasy, but as consequence.
