You had a crush on Yara in high school. She’s beautiful, basketball-tall, and she’s got the sort of disarming charm that can make fast friends of anyone, regardless of who you run with.

She is the founding designer of NOMIA, a fashion line that plants a flag in the uncharted territory we first navigate in young adulthood as we seek out an identity. Her pieces embrace the youthful ethos of experimentation, shedding the awkwardness and naïveté of adolescence to achieve a style that is confident, adventurous and accessible.

Her success with the brand has earned her a coveted spot in the CFDA’s Fashion Incubator program alongside nine other designers, where she is hard at work expanding and refining the collections that put NOMIA in a class of its own.

Jeppe wants to talk about beer. He’s the Danish mastermind behind celebrated craft brewing outfit Evil Twin, and a real champion of the stuff—his inventive brews have garnered the highest praise from experts and enthusiasts, and he’s made it his mission to elevate beer’s reputation as the complex and sophisticated beverage he knows it to be. To that end, he partnered with chef Daniel Burns to open Tørst and Luksus in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. The first is an upscale beer bar, the second a restaurant tucked discreetly behind the bar, offering fine modern Danish fare with a course-by-course beer pairing.

Together they serve as a bastion of new reverential attitudes towards beer in New York, while Evil Twin brews have made their way onto the drink menu at discerning bars and eateries throughout Brooklyn and Manhattan. And sure, it’s hard to ignore the remarkable fact that while Jeppe’s been conquering New York, his estranged twin brother has been brewing specialty beers of his own elsewhere in the world to similar critical acclaim, but let’s not let rumored rivalries and bad blood distract us from the real reason Jeppe’s got our attention.

Together they transform the simplest of materials into awe-inspiring decorative objects, sets and installations for everyone from Lanvin, MoMA PS1 and Mercedes-Benz to Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Beyoncé. Colorful and dynamic, their work enlivens its surroundings with spirit and buoyancy, creating an environment that clearly calls for celebration. It is remarkably fun stuff.

Michael’s had his highs, and his lows. As ringleader of the infamous, debauched New York City nightlifers known as the Club Kids, he reigned over Manhattan’s outrageous, glamorized party scene of the ‘80s and ‘90s. But his fabulous streak took a nosedive when, at the tail end of a marathon drug binge, he killed his dealer Angel following an argument. He and a friend put the corpse on ice in his bathtub, later dismembering it and throwing the pieces into the Hudson. The cover-up soon unraveled; Michael was caught and spent seventeen years in prison. The crime sticks out as a horrific lowlight in the life of a spectacular iconoclast, provocateur and antihero. That man now emerges from his prison term at nearly fifty years old, a recovered addict, reflective, hyperactive and eager to reenter a society and a city that has changed unimaginably during his time away.

Roger and Asger are out of their minds. Roger has been taking photographs for half a century. His art has examined the universality of boyhood, the unseen people and destitute corners of rural South Africa, and the relationship between humans and the animal kingdom, with his more recent work spiraling out into psychological explorations and mixed media imagery. Asger does not consider himself a photographer, but rather an artist who uses photography as his foundational material, fusing portraits and nudes together to sculpt wholly new images featuring abstractions and perversions of the human form. These two men have come together to create a series of challenging works that provoke the subconscious, tapping realms of the human psyche that so many of their contemporaries fail to access, and that so many of us are afraid to investigate.

Wiz Khalifa
